Francine Irakoze
Project Manager
Francine Irakoze is a Berlin-based project manager with IISD's Resilience Program, supporting the work of the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas and the Nature for Climate Adaptation initiatives.
She has extensive experience in program management, leadership, and team operations, including in her previous role as a senior project officer at Global Affairs Canada. In this capacity, Francine led the planning of new health initiatives, managed the program’s portfolio of health projects implemented in West Africa, and monitored budgets for proper use of financial resources. Francine has also worked at Save the Children Canada, where, as Bilingual Program Manager, she managed the successful delivery of a complex and growing portfolio in East and West Africa while supervising the timely implementation of project activities. At the beginning of her career, she also gained experience in the private sector, working as Team Lead and Program Coordinator for patient support programs at McKesson Canada.
She holds a master’s degree in global health (with a health management specialization) from McMaster University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from La Roche College.
